We all know that everyone loves a good visual from their favorite artist, but what about the artist behind the camera? From documentaries and behind the scenes, to music videos and live footage. Visuals are more of a collaboration between two artists, than just a mere video. To dive further into the mind of the cameraman, we sat down with rising midwest videographer Vasean. He’s built up a nice body of work from working with artists in the underground like NoMoValentine, Webster X, and Alexander Kain, to more established artists like Lil Yachty.
What made you get into videography?
“Freshman year my PS3 broke and I wanted to stay part of the Call of Duty community, so I just started editing videos. Then Junior year of high school, a friend let me take pictures for him and I just fell in love with the camera at that moment.”
What is your favorite trait about your craft?
“Just being to speak my mind and share one with another artist. Seeing everything become cohesive from a blank canvas.”
Who would you love to work with?
“Man either someone from TDE or like IcyTwat, Lucki, or Travi$ Scott”
Any videographers that have inspired you?
“YC Imaging, taught me certain things outside the norm of shooting and editing.”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“Hopefully higher production value videos, maybe even shoot for rolling loud.”
