Where are you from? Have your surroundings shaped you in a creative sense, and in what way?
I’m from Akron, Ohio. Home of nothing but The Goat Bron lol. In a way it did, living here always felt like a cage to me and I’ve always felt like I needed to be free from here. I’ve seen so many things and went through so much that without music I would probably be fucked up even more than I already am lol
What’s your background like?
Background just me and my mom the majority of my life. My dad didn’t really try to come around until about 16 and by then it was too late. I experienced shit, I learned how to ride my bike already, talk to girls, that need of a father started to fade long before he decided to come back. I was super quiet most of my life until middle school and I started to grow into myself and actually speak up and voice my opinions on shit.
Who are your top 5 favorite artists?
Top 5? Shit lol in no particular order:
Drake: In high school, I found him on my crush’s myspace page to be blown away that it was Jimmy from Degrassi lol I loved how relatable he was and his search to find where he belonged in this world. I was graduating at the time when I found him and that’s how I felt.
J.Cole: 2014 FHD was nothing short but magical for me. It solidified that I wanted to do music because every song was a story an emotion and I wanted to be able to create that.
Kendrick: I originally didn’t even like Kendrick until I got high with my best friend and we sat and actually listened to GKMC and that shit was a movie to me. I pictured every song. That gunshot on “Sing about me” made me feel like I lost a loved one lol
Boogie: Everything’s for sale, nigga needs, thirst 48. There’s nothing but relatable content that I feel in my soul. I can’t wait until he releases more.
Da Baby: I been listening to him a lot lately. I love his carefree music and how hype he gets me.
What made you start making music?
I just always loved music honestly. Me and my cousins in high school made a little rap group mainly to rap about girls and fuck around and it started to grow more for me. I found myself writing more when I was going through shit, when I felt inspired and I fell in love with the way it made me feel.
Who are your biggest influences?
My mom for sure. She’s been through multiple forms of cancers and illnesses but she still stands tall, still lives life with a smile. I want nothing more than for me to get her out of Ohio and into traveling the world.
What’s your favorite song at the moment?
My favorite song at the moment is Sunflower from the Spiderman soundtrack. That shit is pure bliss to my ears lol. My other favorite song is the next single I’m getting ready to release called “Track Day”.
What keeps you going? How you doing mentally?
I have no choice but to keep going. I can say multiple things and people inspire me, they do but I keep going because I have no choice. I’m alive so I might as well make the most of it. Eventually, I’ll die but I would like to die knowing I lived my version of a great life. Not one someone else defines that as. Mentally? Lol, I could definitely be better but life has ups and downs.
How would you describe your style?
I don’t know how to define my style honestly. I just release music and let the people decide. My opinion doesn’t really matter except to me. Everyone else will define and consume music differently from me. That’s what makes music so great because one song can speak to a million people a million different ways.
What do you hope to accomplish in 2019?
I want a bigger fanbase, more exposure, reasons for me to get up out of Ohio, to be able to provide more for my family. But really I just want to finally be recognized for my art.
