How old are you and where are you from?
I’m 18 years old and I am from Houston, Texas
How’s the creative scene out there?
It is amazing, we don’t get a lot of the credit like New York, or Los Angeles, but we are coming up in our own right. We are starting to put Houston on the map slowly.
What got you into photography?
I always wanted to do something with a camera, I wanted to either make or star in movies actually. However, about almost a year ago, I picked up my first camera and I just started to shoot. I made videos at first but then I switched to photography and it stayed. I love the vibes it gives off, I can be myself.
Who do you look up to creatively?
Rayscorruptedmind and Gunner Stahl. Both photographers are very successful and both have worked with multiple celebrities and really bring out the aesthetic visuals in their photos.
How many pictures do you typically take on a shoot? And how does that one shot differ from the others?
I normally take enough until I get satisfied. Art is not rushed. You can’t expect every shot to be perfect. There could be another angle or bad lighting, just not one shot is perfect. Also every picture is different, it will never be the same type of angle or even place. I move around and I get the pics taken the right way and I never settle until I’m satisfied that the art I have created is ready.
What is your dream shoot (location and model?)
I want to shoot on top of a skyscraper or just travel the world. I would really work with anyone, because it only takes one person to get you in the business. But if I had to choose it would be Travis Scott.
Who is your favorite person to shoot?
All my models. Shout out to Jaden, Mitchell, Jayden, DJ, Morgan, Elise, Chidera, Richard, Cole, SaintJordo, Presley, Davahn, Angie, Sacè, Ethan, Sam, Shawn, Eli, Cameron, Neezy, and Chloe. I am the photographer of my youth and a generation. Creating art for and by the youth. We have gifts and talents beyond measure among us. Really talented individuals.
What are some of your goals, big or small, that you wanna achieve?
Just to prove everyone wrong number 1, and number 2, to just get recognized by a magazine company like Voguè or a celebrity. 3, is to make a better life for me and mines.
How would you describe your work?
It’s my art. I have never put it as anything else. It can be dark at times, and sometimes it can be just beautiful. People tell me my work is this and that. I just make the art, and I put everything I got into it.
How long have you been doing photography? Is this your only way of income?
About a year now and yes this is, but it’s a sacrifice to get to your goal. Everyone that has made it big, had to put the time in and not be able to do some things people can do with regular jobs. I’m not hurting by any means, I do get high demands for shoots, but the market can go up and down. There can be slow periods at anytime is what I’m trying to say. However, I know it will all pay off.
What’s some advice you’d give to upcoming photographers?
Do your thing, don’t try to worry about making your art like anyone else’s, be happy with what you bring to the table, and practice, practice, practice. When I started out my photos didn’t look like how they are now. I learned, and I studied new ways to make my pictures better and through trial & error. The last thing is never let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do. If you wanna shoot then do it. Don’t let anyone confine you to a box, and try to make you feel bad for doing something else. We are all trying to find our calling. I found mine and I’m happy with my life.
Much love to FTU for the article on me!
